Bwindi Impenetrable national park is one of Uganda’s oldest national park with diverse rainforest of over 25,000 years ago and contains about 400 plant species. Bwindi Impenetrable national park inhabits half of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas in the world and it is divided into 4 sectors including; Buhoma sector which is the oldest trekking sector, Rushaga sector which has the largest number of gorilla families, Ruhija sector and finally Nkuringo sector. Bwindi forest also shelters some species of mammals including the forest elephants and the different species of antelopes. The park is also rich with different bird species including Albertine Rift endemics. You will start and end this trip in Kampala as the nearest city to connect to Entebbe airport. Detailed itinerary 

Day 1: Arrival – Hotel/Kampala City tour

Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by our company representative/driver guide for the transfer to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on your time of arrival, a Kampala city tour and visit some of the interesting places in Kampala like the Gadaffi Mosque, Nakasero market and Uganda Museum before you check-in your booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay at

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After breakfast, you will be picked up by our company representative/ safari driver and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park located in the south western part of Uganda close to the Rwanda borders. Tt’s a 8-9 hours’ drive with en route stop at the equator and lunch in Mbarara town. Dinner and overnight stay at

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking experience

Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing by the ranger guides before embarking on your gorilla trek. Head into the forest and trek until you find the gorillas. Gorilla trekking can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After finding the gorillas in Bwindi, you will be allowed only 1 hour and then return. Your driver / guide will drive you back to your hotel to relax and spend another night as above

Day 4: Hike one of the volcanoes – Mgahinga national park

Wake up early, transfer to Mgahinga national park for your volcano hike with your packded lunch since it’s a full day hike. The park has 3 volcano mountains you can consider choosing to hiking. That is Mount Muhavura which is the highest volcano on the Uganda side, its 4,127m, and this 12km round trip takes around eight hours. Once at the top, you are rewarded on a clear day with views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the peaks of the Rwenzoris.

Or, you can hike to Mount Gahinga which is 3,474m, it’s a 6 hours hike to ascend and descend. You will rewarded by a swamp filled crater and giant lobelia, with opportunities to spot the golden monkeys on their way through the bamboo forest.

Or you can hike Mount Sabinyo which is 3,669m, taking about 8 hours to cover the hike and descend; you will be rewarded with a steep ridge up to the peak. Dinner and overnight at

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast, embark on your drive to Queen Elizabeth national park with en route lunch driving via Ishasha sector for an opportunity to spot the tree clubbing lions. Drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight at

Day 6: Game drive and Boat cruise 

After breakfast early morning, meet your drive to connect for lion experience – an experience where you are guaranteed to see the lions. Thereafter connect for a game drive at Kisenyi area where you will spot other wildlife including Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes and all species of antelopes.

After enjoying your lunch at the lodge, go for your boat trip along the Kazinga channel for yet another wildlife/bird watching experience as you cruise on lake Edward/George.  Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking – Kyambura Gorge

After breakfast early in the morning, you will depart for Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura forest with your tracking gears. The walk in the forest in search of the chimpz generally takes around 25 hours. Spend an hour with the chimpanzees before you return for lunch at your lodge. Thereafter you will connect back to your lodge for lunch. Later afternoon, drive to a coffee experience where you will learn the process of coffee locally. Later evening drive back to the lodge for relaxation, have dinner and spend another night at lodge as above

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

Start your day with early morning breakfast and after you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. You will reach Mbarara town in time for lunch after which you will enter the Park with a game drive en-route which will give you clear views of animals such as Zebras, Buffaloes and elands. Optional activities you can do on arrival at the park include; horseback riding or biking. Dinner and overnight stay at

Day 9: Walking safari and Boat ride on Lake Mburo

Early morning, after your breakfast, meet your ranger guides for your walking safari, this tour is no different from a game drive except that here you will walk on foot to find the animals. Return to the Lodge for refreshments, Lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo which will get you quite close to Crocodiles and Hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 10: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe/Departure

Early morning, you will have breakfast and after en-route game drive for the early risers and other missed animals on the previous game drive before embarking on a journey back to Kampala with en route Lunch and at the Equator for water experiments and photographs, Royal drum Village at Mpambire for souvenirs. Proceed to Kampala and drop-off at Entebbe airport for your flight back home.
