The park was established in 1991, making it the oldest forests in Africa and was declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest starts with a briefing at the park headquarters at around 7:30am with a briefing about the rules, regulations, expectations and what to carry while on a trek. After the briefing, you will be allocated an armed ranger from Uganda Wildlife Authority who will lead you to the forest in search for the gorilla families. It can take only 30 minutes to locate some groups while others can take hours.

During your gorilla trek, you’ll also have the chance to meet with other primate creatures that dwell in the park such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, De Brazza monkeys, Red-tailed Monkey, Blue Monkey, Potto, species, Spectacled Galago, Baboons, Chimpanzee among other. How much is a gorilla trekking permit in Bwindi?

The gorilla permit for trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest cost same like for Mgahinga that $800 pp for foreign non residents, $700 for foreign residents and 300,000 Uganda shillings for East African Resident.   This gorilla permits are only allowed to persons above the age 15 years and above as per the policy and minors are not allowed to trek since they may not easy be controlled in the forest and may easily transmit diseases to the gorillas. Best time to go for a Uganda Gorilla Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a year-round activity, but many believe that the best time to visit is during the dry season. This peak season typically runs from December to February and again from June to August.
