7 Days Uganda Gorillas and Wildlife safari will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and Lake Bunyonyi. Explore Uganda’s wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park and get to unwind and relax in Lake Bunyonyi. The highlight of this safari is visiting the habituated mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of Bwindi National Park which inhabits over 400 mountain gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will be picked up from Entebbe airport or the hotel by our company driver-guide, have a short briefing about the safari and embark on a road drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe for the water experiment and get a chance to stand in two different hemispheres of the earth, take pictures and check out the craft shops for souvenirs. Later proceed with another stop for en-route lunch and after lunch, you will continue to Queen Elizabeth national park and upon arrival, you will drive through the park as you head to your lodge. Check-in, relax as you wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drives and an afternoon launch cruise

Awake early in the morning, enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge and head out for a morning game drive in the park where you will see animals as they awake from their slumber and are heading out to search for what to eat. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home of different wild animals such as the African buffaloes, leopards, lions, hyenas, topis, Uganda kobs, elephants, giant forest hogs among so many others. Return to the lodge for lunch as then wait for your afternoon adventure.

In the afternoon, head out for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will see aquatic animals like the Nile crocodiles and hippos, different bird species and other animals that come to the shores for a drink such as African elephants, buffaloes, warthogs among others. Return to the lodge and relax as you wait for your dinner. Dinner and overstay at the lodge, as above.

Day 3: Ishasha game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After your breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have a stopover in Ishasha sector where you will spot the tree climbing lions lying in acacia tree branches. You will also view other wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, topi, Uganda kobs and many others.

Later have lunch en-route and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and wait for your dinner and overstay at the lodge dependent on the sector you’re tracking from.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Enjoy an early breakfast at the lodge and then transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing about the rules and guidelines to be followed during trekking. After the briefing, you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek, an experienced park guide and park rangers who will guide you through the impenetrable forest of Bwindi in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek can take about 2 hours to up to 6 hours or more depending on the location of the mountain gorillas. Once the gorillas are located, you are allowed only one hour with them, watch them feed, play, breastfeed young ones, take pictures and record videos. After the encounter, trek back to the park headquarters and meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to your lodge for relaxation dinner and overstay at the lodge, as above.

Day 5: Batwa cultural Trail and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After your breakfast at the lodge, head out to visit the Batwa community and have fun as they relive their way of life and share with you their cultural dances and songs.

Return to the lodge for lunch, check out and meet with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with views of the Kigezi highlands, terraced farmlands among others. Upon arrival, you will check-into your lodge for dinner and overstay at the lodge.

Day 6: Explore the islands of Bunyonyi by Canoe

You will enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge and head out to explore the islands of Lake Bunyonyi on a canoe ride. With about 29 islands, there’s a lot for one to do during the exploration. Watch out for the birds, the local people as they go about their day-to-day life. Later return to the lodge for lunch and then spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and an overstay at the lodge, as above.

Day 7: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of the safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way You will arrive in Kampala in the evening and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International airport for your departure flight.
