6 Days Chimpanzee and Gorilla Habituation Experience
The 6 days chimpanzee and gorilla habituation experience is an interesting primate safari that will take you to Kibale Forest National Park, also known as the primate capital and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is the most visited gorilla destination located in the southwestern part of Uganda.
During this safari, you will get an opportunity to engage in a guided nature walk and a Batwa cultural tour, where you will interact with the local people. The chimpanzee habituation and gorilla habituation experience will allow you to spend four hours with the chimpanzees and gorillas in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide, who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park, which is located in western Uganda.
The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive and on the way you will have an en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, and views of the crater lakes, among others. Upon arrival in Kibale National Park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience
Chimpanzee habituation,
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer you to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee habituation briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale National Park takes a whole day.
During trekking you will be able to view other primates and views of different bird species, among others. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their environment, which helps you to watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos.
After the encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Enjoy a hearty breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and stunning views of the farmlands, Kigezi hills, and traditional homesteads, among others. Upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla habituation briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle, which takes a whole day. During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species, other primates, a variety of bird species, and different plant and tree species, among others.
Once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to learn and monitor their habits and behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, engaging in the naming process, taking photos, and recording videos.
After the encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla habituation and later meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Guided nature walk and Batwa cultural tour
After an early breakfast, meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting guided nature walk where you will be able to get up-close and personal with different wildlife species, listen to sweet sounds of birds singing in trees, and enjoy views of plants and trees, waterfalls, and more.
After the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch, where after you will go for a Batwa cultural tour, where you will be able to learn about their culture, lifestyle, and way of living; visit their homesteads; learn about their hunting and gathering skills; and enjoy their local dishes, traditional entertainments, and others. After the Batwa cultural tour, you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have an en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you will buy souvenirs and take photos.
From the Equator, you will proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
