Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls national park

Transfer to Murchison falls national park: On day 1 of 14 Days Best of Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo, you will be met and picked by our company representative in Uganda who will pick you from any hotel with in Kampala or at Entebbe international airport upon landing. You will be briefed about your 2 weeks safari in Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo that will start from Uganda and end in Rwanda. After pickup, you will start the journey to northeastern part of Uganda to Murchison falls national park with an option of white rhino trekking at Ziwa rhino sanctuary which takes you about 2-3 hours. Enroute lunch will be in Masindi town and then the journey to the park continues via top of falls for a brief game drive while watching the entire park from above and feeling the cool breath from the most powerful waterfall in the whole world. You will later on be driven direct to your lodge for check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

Game drive and boat cruise: After breakfast on day 2 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, you will spend about 5-6 hours on a thrilling game drive within Murchison falls national park which is the only park in Uganda where one encounters with all the big 5 games in just one safari as long as there is a stopover at Ziwa white rhino sanctuary. During the game drive, you will spot several wildlife species including Elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob, lions and many other wildlife that call Murchison falls national park their habitat. As soon as you are done with the game drive, you will return for lunch at the lodge and later on be transferred to paraa for a thrilling afternoon boat cruise along Nile River. This Nile boat cruise upwards towards the waterfall is the most adventurous activity done in Murchison falls national park where you will cruise while overlooking several wildlife species along the shores including Hippos, elephants, buffaloes among others. Once the boat gets to the base of the waterfall, tourists interested in hiking to summit the top of waterfall get off the boat and join the rangers for a 45 minutes hike. This hike is however an optional activities as it requires a particular fitness level to ascend.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

Transfer to kibale forest national park: On day 3 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, wake up for a cup of coffee or anything served for breakfast. After breakfast, check out and meet your safari driver to be driven from Murchison falls national park to Kibale forest national park with an enroute lunch in Fortpotal. The journey is kind of long but so rewarding with several attractions along the way ranging from fauna species, flora species and the locals. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: chimpanzee trekking and bigodi nature walk

Chimpanzee trekking: On day 4 of 14 Days Best of Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo, you will be served breakfast as early as possible then meet your safari driver for a ride to Kanyanchu where briefing is conducted at the park headquarters with packed drinking water and snacks. During the briefing, you will learn more about the chimpanzees, the dos and don’ts while in the wild with chimpanzees and the expectations. After briefing, hire a porter and a journey in kibale forest starts alongside armed rangers. While in Kibale forest, keep on look out as you will encounter several primate species including Olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and many more since the forest harbors 13 species of primates. You will also encounter with mammals such as elephants, birds, butterflies and several plant species that make up the eco system of this park. Chimpanzee trekking lasts from 30 minutes to 4 hours but as soon as the troop of chimpanzees is allocated, only one hour is allowed for photo taking and close interaction then trekkers will return to the office to meet with the driver and return to the lodge for lunch.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park: On day 5 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, wake up for breakfast at your lodge then visit the crater lakes known as Ndali kasenda crater lakes that are situated in the rift valley region. After exploring these lakes, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then check out to start the journey from Kibale forest national park to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 6: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Game drive and boat cruise: On day 6 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, you will wake for breakfast as early as possible then meet your safari driver for a transfer to kasenyi plains for an early morning game drive to watch several fauna and flora species within this part of the park. This game drive offers and a great wildlife viewing experience due to existence of a large congestion of wildlife in kasenyi plains. Amongst the wildlife seen while on a game drive in queen Elizabeth national park include; Elephants, Uganda kob, Buffaloes, giraffes, lions and many more. Return to the lodge in time for lunch.
After enjoying your meal, meet your driver once and again for drive to Kazinga channel where you will spend your afternoon on a boat cruise on a crocodile infested water body. Be sure to view a huge population of crocodiles, hippos, water birds and other mammals that are always seen along the shores.

Day 7: Tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park: After breakfast on day 7 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, check out of the lodge will packed lunchbox and meet your driver to start the journey to Ishasha sector situated in southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. While in Ishasha sector, you will enjoy a breathtaking game drive in search of tree climbing lions which are seen hanging lazily with in tree branches overlooking the grazing mammals especially the Uganda Kob. After the game drive, you will enjoy your lunch and then cross over from Queen Elizabeth national park to start another drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park for overnight.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park: Wake up at about 6:00am on day 8 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, have breakfast then pack all that you will require for a successful gorilla trekking adventure including some snacks, enough drinking water and the best gorilla trekking gear including waterproof hiking boats, insect repellant, a cap, garden gloves, a rain jacket, and long sleeved clothes then be driven to park headquarters for briefing. After briefing, you will start the walk in the forest as you search for habituated gorilla family for trekking that will take about 30 minutes to 8 hours walk in the forest until the gorilla family is found. Spend one hour with gorillas and finally return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes national park

Transfer to Volcanoes national park Rwanda: Once breakfast is done on day 9 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, check out of the lodge and start the journey from Bwindi impenetrable national park Uganda and cross over via cyanika border into Rwanda where you will be driven park headquarters for volcanoes national park to obtain a gorilla trekking permit and proceed to check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park: Enjoyed a heavy breakfast early in the morning on day 10 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, then be driven to join other trekkers for a briefing about the gorilla trekking dos and don’ts and what is expected in the wild during gorilla trekking. After briefing, a trek deep into the wilderness commences alongside armed rangers, porters and the local guides as you search for habituated mountain gorillas. This will take you about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the nature of the terrains, the trekking speeding and the movement of gorillas. As soon as you finally find the gorillas, you will spend one with them and trek back to the starting point to meet your safari driver for drive back to your lodge. Later in the evening, you will engage in an optional activity on guided nature walks to visit the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo or visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village for a thrilling cultural entertainment.

Day 11: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Goma

Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Goma: After breakfast on day 11 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, you will head out for golden monkey trekking which is yet another fascinating activity done in volcanoes national park that enables you to spend one hour with these pretty primates in their natural habitats. After trekking the golden monkeys, you will return for lunch at the lodge then check out and embark on a 2 hour drive to Goma city where you will spend your overnight awaiting to crossover into Virunga national park the following day.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park: On day 12 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, wake up for breakfast as early as possible and be transferred to the border point for clearances and finally pass via the virunga national park headquarters to obtain the gorilla and Nyiragongo hiking permit and continue to Bukima for a briefing about gorilla trekking with other trekkers. After the briefing, the actual trek starts as you move up and down in the wild in search of habituated gorillas. This takes from 30 minutes to 7 hours but only one hour is allowed to watch the gorillas and take photographs. As soon as one hour elapses, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Hike mount Nyiragongo (Ascend)

Hike Nyiragongo: On day 13 of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, you will be served with breakfast at your lodge then be transferred direct to Kibati where the briefing and the hike to summit Nyiragongo is conducted. During briefing, you will be informed about what Nyiragongo is, the last day of eruption which is 2002 and the dos and don’ts during the hike. You need to be well equipped with the sleeping bag, the warm attire, a torch and all that is required since there are no shops at the summit. By 10:00am, the hike starts and whoever has not arrived at that time is left behind and never expect a refund for this so be at the right place at the right time since most of the activities I Congo are done under tight security in groups. An overnight at the summit offers you a stunning view of the lava lake that glows even brighter in the night as rain drops in. take your photographs for as long as you can.

Day 14: Descend Nyiragongo and transfer to Kigali Rwanda

Descend Nyiragongo: On the last day of 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla tour & Nyiragongo hiking safari, you will wake up at the summit of Nyiragongo where you spent an overnight, have breakfast if possible and by 6:00am, be with the rest of the hikers to start descending back to Kibati where a convoy will pick you and drive you back to the Congo Rwanda border to meet with your safari driver for a drive to Kigali Rwanda. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will enjoy your lunch and move on with Kigali city tour exploring some genocide memorial sites, market places, and many other places in Kigali and finally be dropped-off at the hotel or Kigali international airport for departures according to your flight details.
