Uganda Nature Walks (In Bwindi-Buhoma Sector): Bwindi impenetrable national park is a home to the mountain Gorillas that inhabit in three countries i.e. Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Bwindi impenetrable national park offers Gorilla trekking activity and there are other activities to encounter including nature walks in Bwindi-Buhoma sector, these are five different day trails, they range from 30minutes to 7 hours in duration. During the nature walk have an opportunity of see several different monkey species in the forest.

One can spot a number of bird species of up to about 200 bird species that are recorded in the area.

Hiking/Nature walks in Bwindi

Buhoma has a number of hiking/Nature walks which is located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as a way of exploring the park.

Muyanga waterfall trail starts from Buhoma along River Ivi- to Nkuringo trail and culminates in sensational sight of the falls.

Rushura Hill trail, this trail moves through shared two countries, and on a clear day, one has a chance of  viewing of the lake Edward ,George and the Rwenzori mountains ,virunga volcanoes and many more.

Muzubijiro loop is 6km walk around the hill and the encounter with the primates in the area enjoy birds, spot  a number of trees  and beautiful scenery of the Virungas.

Ivi River walk takes 14km and 7 hours to trail a place known as Mukempunu a local word which means “a place of pigs”. The area is a place for wild pigs  where they are often found. The trails always ascend and descend gently through the beautiful areas of the rainforest. Spot the duikers, monkeys, butterflies and a number of birds.

Buhoma-Nkuringo Trail, this trail takes three to four hours, crossing right through the park, thereafter connects to villages that offer impressive views of the misty hillside the luggage. The trail is complete as part of Ivi River  walk.

Habinyanja Trail, it takes 4-6 hours, crossing the Munyaga River, which takes in fairly steep ascent of Habigorooro Riyovi ridge which overlooks Buhoma River. When trailing you will have a chance to see the African corner this was named after a rock piece that depicts the map of Africa.

Waterfall trail, there are primate species and this one takes 3 hours for 2km along the road.

Ivo River walk, is one of the longest taking duration of 8 hours. This walk leads to Ivo River which is on the southern boundary of the park to offers opportunities for seeing duikers, monkeys and a number of bird species.

Buhoma is located in the northern section of rainforest. Kashasha trail, is direct trail through the forest taking 13km in length, the trails begin at Nkuringo sector park offices before one proceeds on a steep slope through community land. The route to Ivy River trail is about 90 minutes from Buhoma.

Kishasha trail takes approximately 5 hours from Nkuringo to Buhoma and 7 hours from Buhoma to Nkuringo. During the trail in the rainforest you will spot a number of primates, monkeys, birds.
