Nyakagezi Gorilla Group

Nyakagezi gorilla group, is the only gorilla family inhabiting the Mgahinga national park. Mgahinga national park, is located in Uganda which protects half of the total number of mountain Gorillas, living in the native part of Africa in the whole world.

Mountain Gorillas, are one of the endangered species with 98% DNA, living in the tropical rain of forests of bamboo thick trees.

Mgahinga is located in the southwestern part of Uganda near Bwindi impenetrable national park. As you travel to Mgahinga national park to have an encounter with the Nyakagezi gorilla group, you will enjoy an amazing experience of the rolling hills and many more.

The Mgahinga national park protects 80 mountain gorillas unlike other national parks. And this group has only 10 members who are known as migrants. They keep travelling to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

The group returned and settled at the park in 2012. It consists of 10 members and 3 silverbacks even more news came up in May 2013 when the group welcomed a new born baby increasing the group to 11 members.

It is led by a Mark the silverback who leads and protects the Nyakagezi gorilla group.

Due to the travelling of this group all the time, the gorilla permits for this family can only be booked at the park headquarters of the Uganda wildlife Authority in Uganda.
