
Bweza Gorilla Group
Bweza Gorilla Group resides in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This Bweza Gorilla Group consists of 7 members including one silverback and 2 infants.
Bweza Gorilla Group started with the Nshongi family which was the largest Mountain Gorilla family by then to be habituated in Uganda but later on split into more groups because of some misunderstandings between its members.
The family had quite many fights in the year 2013 and it wasn’t long before Bweza – The silverback opted to finally break away from the rest of the family and since then the family has never shown any close signs of reunion.
The park rangers thought the family would get back together at one point but unfortunately they didn’t and this further prompted the group to be opened for tourism in the year 2012.
Amongst all the other Mountain Gorilla groups in Bwindi Impenetrable National park, Bweza is among the most interesting to trek. Watching this family carry out their day to day activities such as feeding, playing and grooming each other is such a thrilling moment in a lifetime.
The journey to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi takes you through the rolling beautiful hills of Kigezi town. You will also enjoy a relatively beautifully scenery of the Virunga Volcanoes along with the magical views of Lake Bunyonyi, one of the deepest crater lakes in the world.
Gorilla permits for Rushaga are not so competitive hard to get compared to Nkuringo and Buhoma but all the same you ought to reserve yours several months in advance to rule out any uncertainties of missing out on them.
