The 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari is an interesting primate safari that starts from Entebbe Uganda and ends from Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to Kibale forest national park also known as the primate capital, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is the most visited gorilla destination located in south western part of Uganda and Volcanoes national park in Rwanda. During the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will get an opportunity to engage in golden monkey trekking where you will spend time with the golden monkeys, chimpanzee habituation and gorilla habituation experience where you will be able to spend four hours with the chimpanzees and gorillas in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale forest national park which is located in western Uganda. The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive and on the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, views of the crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee habituation briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale national park takes a whole day. During trekking you will be to view other primates, views of different bird species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their environment which helps you to watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviours, take photos and record videos. After the encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the third day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and stunning views of the farmlands, Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla habituation briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle which takes a whole day. During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species, other primates, variety of bird species, view different plant and tree species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn and monitor their habits, behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, groom young ones, engage in the naming process, take photos and record videos.
After the encounter with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla habituation and later meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast on the fifth day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Volcanoes national park via Katuna border in Kabale or cyanika border in Kisoro. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the rolling hills, farmlands, tea plantations, crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in Volcanoes national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Golden monkey trekking and departure to Kigali
After an early breakfast on the last day of the 6 days Uganda Rwanda primates safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a golden monkey briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the golden monkeys which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where they are located. During trekking you will be able to view other primates and once the golden monkeys are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you a chance to watch them feed, play, jump up in trees, take photos and record videos. After golden monkey trekking, you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kigali with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival in Kigali, your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
