The 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari is an interesting and exceptional safari that will take you to Maasai Mara national reserve, Lake Nakuru national park, Amboseli national park, Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park. During the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will enjoy great views of wildlife including the big five mammals which include elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinos, and other animals like elands, gazelle, topi, reedbucks, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, hippos, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, impalas, Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi among others which will be viewed during the game drives and boat cruise. Detailed Itinerary        

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Nairobi

Depending on your arrival time at the airport in Nairobi on day 1 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will be welcomed by the driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to the hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve, afternoon game drive

On day 2 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel to transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve with en-route lunch and stunning views of the landscape, scenery, and rift valley escarpments among others. Upon arrival, you will go for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to view different animals like elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, lions, and elands among others. After the game drive, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara

On day 3 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a full day game drive in the reserve where you will be able to view various animals like buffaloes, rhinos, gazelle, elephants, elands among others grazing in the open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs among others. In the middle of the day, you will have a picnic lunch and then continue with the afternoon game drive where you will be able to view other wildlife species. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Maasai cultural tour

After an early breakfast on day 4 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for another morning game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed the previous day.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch where you will go for an interesting Maasai cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Maasai people, learn about their culture, tradition, and way of living, and enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Drive to lake Nakuru national park

After breakfast on day 5 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park passing through the Rift Valley escarpment and beautiful scenery along the way. You will have an en-route game drive where you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, elands, gazelles, rhinos, giraffes, and impalas among others.

Upon arrival in the park, you will connect to your lodge for lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to spot different bird species including flamingos along the lake shores, view animals like waterbucks, lions, zebras, elands, hippos, gazelle, giraffes, rhinos among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Amboseli National Park

On day 6 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Amboseli National Park. On the way, you will have a stopover for en-route lunch and then proceed to the park with an en-route game drive where you will be able to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and gazelle among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Morning game drive in Amboseli National Park, Walking safari

After an early breakfast on day 7 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot animals like lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, elands, cheetahs, reedbucks, gazelle, hyenas, and various bird species.

After the game drive, you will have lunch and later go for a guided walking safari in the park where you will get up-close and personal with different animals, enjoy views of Mt Kilimanjaro, views of the sunset, and take beautiful pictures among others. After the nature walk, you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the morning game drive and later drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Nairobi for your flight to Entebbe

On day 8 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Nairobi with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will you off at the airport for your departure flight to Entebbe International Airport. Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will transfer to the hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Jinja the source of the Nile for a boat cruise

You will have breakfast at leisure on day 9 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, check out of the hotel and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Jinja via Mabira forest, Sezibwa Falls and upon arrival you will go for an interesting source of the Nile boat cruise. After the boat cruise, you will drive to the lodge for lunch where after you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10: White water rafting and transfer to Entebbe

After breakfast on day 10 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a white water rafting adventure which starts with a briefing where you will start the adventure following different rapids. After the white water rafting experience, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Kibale national park

After breakfast on day 11 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park which is located in western Uganda. It’s a whole day journey and on the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, views of the crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast on day 12 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be divided into a group of 6 people where each group will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking, you will be able to spot other primates such as grey cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, some bird species, and plants among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which helps you to learn more about their behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, fight, hunt, enjoy the juveniles playing up in the trees, take photos and record the moments. After the face-to-face encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast on day 13 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot different animals including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, topi, warthogs, hyenas among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will be able to view large concentrations of hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles basking on the water banks, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes among others drinking water along the shores, view water birds among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After breakfast on day 14 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover in the Ishasha sector where you will be able to view the tree-climbing lions lying on acacia/fig tree branches if you are lucky. After the game drive in Ishasha sector, you will have an en-route lunch and then continue the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park and upon arrival you will check in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

 Day 15: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park

After an early breakfast on day 15 of the 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari, you will carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 people where each group will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on their location and during trekking you will be able to view forest birds, other primates, plant and tree species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be able to spend one hour with them which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle, behaviors, and habits, take photos, watch them carry out their daily activities and record the fascinating memories to show people back home.

After a breath-taking encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your guide and then meet up with your guide to return to the lodge for an evening relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Departure to Entebbe

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 16 days of Kenya and Uganda safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have an en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator where you will be able to buy souvenirs and take photos. From the Equator, you will proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
