13 Days Rwanda and Kenya safari
The 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari is an extraordinary adventure that starts from Kigali Rwanda and ends in Kenya. The safari will take you to different destinations in Rwanda and Kenya including Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park, Maasai Mara national reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and Amboseli National Park. During the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will enjoy great views of wildlife including the big five mammals which include elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinos, and other animals like elands, gazelle, topi, reedbucks, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, hippos, impalas among others which will be viewed during the game drives. You will also engage in a chimpanzee and gorilla trekking experience where you will be able to spend time with the chimpanzees and the endangered mountain gorillas, a canopy walk where you will be able to enjoy Aerial views of the forest and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Kigali
Depending on your arrival time at Kigali International Airport on the first day of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer you to the hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
On the second day of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel to go for a short city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial centre, Kimironko market, art centres among others. After the city tour, you will start the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park with a stopover at the former Kings Palace and en-route lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to the park with great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk tour
Chimpanzee trekking,
After an early breakfast on day 3 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and an experienced park guide who is knowledgeable about chimpanzee trekking trails. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on where they are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view different bird species, other primate species, plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviours, habits, take photos, watch them carry out their daily activities and record the incredible moments to show people back home. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
Canopy walk tour
After lunch, you will go for an adventurous canopy walk tour which starts at Uwinka Visitors Centre. During the canopy walk, you will be able to view different bird species, primates, animals, enjoy aerial view of the forest, tree tops among others. After the canopy walk, you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
On day 4 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will have breakfast at leisure and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Volcanoes national park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and then continue the journey with great views of the beautiful scenery, landscape among others. Upon arrival, you will go for a twin lakes tour of Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo where you will be able to enjoy stunning views of the terraced farmlands, bird species among others. From the twin lakes, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour
After breakfast on day 5 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to go for gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the mountain gorillas which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where they are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking, you will be able to view different birds, other primate species among others and once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment where you will be able to watch them feed, play, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home.
After gorilla trekking, you will meet up with your driver guide and go for an interesting Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, history, lifestyle, way of living, visit their homesteads, enjoy their traditional performances among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Kigali for your departure flight to Nairobi
On day 6 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to Kigali for your departure flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be picked by our driver guide to transfer to the hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Drive to Amboseli national park
On day 7 of 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the hotel and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Amboseli national park. On the way, you will have a stopover for en-route lunch and then proceed to the park with en-route game drive where you will be able to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, gazelle among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Morning game drive in Amboseli national park, Walking safari
After an early breakfast on day 8 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot animals like lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, elands, cheetahs, reedbucks, gazelle, hyenas and various bird species.
After the game drive, you will have lunch and later go for a guided walking safari in the park where you will get up-close and personal with different animals, enjoy views of Mt Kilimanjaro, views of the sunset, take beautiful pictures among others. After the nature walk, you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the morning game drive and later drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Drive to lake Nakuru national park
After breakfast on day 9 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Nakuru national park passing through the rift valley escarpment and beautiful scenery along the way. You will have en-route game drive where you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, elands, gazelle, rhinos, giraffes, impalas among others.
Upon arrival in the park, you will connect to your lodge for lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to spot different bird species including flamingos along the lake shores, view animals like waterbucks, lions, zebras, elands, hippos, gazelle, giraffes, rhinos among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve, afternoon game drive
On day 10 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve with en-route lunch and stunning views of the landscape, scenery, rift valley escarpments among others. Upon arrival, you will go for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to view different animals like elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, lions, elands among others. After the game drive, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
On day 11 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a full day game drive in the reserve where you will be able to view various animals like buffaloes, rhinos, gazelle, elephants, elands among others grazing in the open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs among others. In the middle of the day, you will have a picnic lunch and then continue with the afternoon game drive where you will be able to view other wildlife species. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Morning game drive and Maasai cultural tour
After an early breakfast on day 12 of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for another morning game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed the previous day.
After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an interesting Maasai cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Maasai people, learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Departure to Nairobi
On the last day of the 13 days Rwanda and Kenya safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Nairobi. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
