Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi
Depending on your arrival time at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the first day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Lake Nakuru national park-game drive
After breakfast on the second day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will check out of the hotel and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park passing through the Rift Valley escarpment and beautiful scenery along the way. You will have an en-route game drive where you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, elands, gazelles, rhinos, giraffes, and impalas among others.
Upon arrival in the park, you will connect to your lodge for lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to spot different bird species including flamingos along the lake shores, view animals like waterbucks, lions, zebras, elands, hippos, gazelle, giraffes, rhinos among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve, evening game drive
On the third day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve with en-route lunch and stunning views of the landscape, scenery, rift valley escarpments among others. Upon arrival, you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view different animals like elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, lions, and elands among others. After the game drive, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a full day game drive in the reserve where you will be able to view various animals like buffaloes, rhinos, gazelle, elephants, elands among others grazing in the open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs among others. In the middle of the day, you will have a picnic lunch and then continue with the afternoon game drive where you will be able to view other wildlife species. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Morning game drive and Maasai cultural tour
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for another morning game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous game drive.
After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch where you will go for an interesting Maasai cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Maasai people, learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, and enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer from Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park
On the sixth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge with your packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Serengeti National Park. The journey takes about 5 hours to drive to Isibania, the border crossing between Kenya and Tanzania and from the border, it also takes about 5 hours to drive to Serengeti National Park with stunning views of wildlife and highlands on the way. Upon arrival in the park, you will proceed to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 7 &8: Full day game drives in Central Serengeti National Park, Hot air balloon
After an early breakfast on the seventh and eighth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to central Serengeti for a full-day game drive where you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, gazelle, jackals, view various bird species among others. You will have a picnic lunch in the wilderness and then proceed with the game drive where after you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area
On the ninth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area. You will have a stopover at Olduvai Gorge where you will be able to learn about the historical findings of Dr Louis and Mary Leaky and then proceed to the conservation area for a game drive/ guided walking safari on the crater rim where you will get up-close and personal with different wildlife animals like giraffes, listen to bird species in tree branches, enjoy the cool and quiet environment among others. After the walking safari, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Ngorongoro crater drive, Maasai Bomas visit
After breakfast on the tenth day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a drive to the Ngorongoro crater where you will descend 600 meters into the crater for a game drive where you will be able to spot animals like buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, wildebeests, elephants, dik-dik, lions, leopards, hyenas among others, you will also be able to view bird species like the flamingos among others.
After the crater drive, you will visit the Maasai Bomas where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, and lifestyle, and enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Departure to Arusha
On the last day of the 11 days best of Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Arusha with views of animals on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
