Tracker safari Lodge is a perfect Mid-range safari accommodation, located in Buhoma sector one of the four habituated gorilla sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga. Meanwhile, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renown as one of the Africa’s most diverse forests formed as a part of a much larger forest belt that stretched south to the slopes of the Virunga Mountains till about 500 years ago when agriculturalists encroached on the forest.

More so, the lodge sits on an altitude of 1500meter just five minutes’ drive from the park headquarters Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park home to over 120 mammal and inhabitant of its famous residents the critically mountain gorillas of over 650 individuals and other various primates. The park covers 321 square kilometers of montane and lowland rain forest.

From the Trackers Safari Lodge, you can easily access Buhoma gorilla trekking area within 5 minutes’ drive to the briefing area and Ruhija which is a 1 hour. Gorilla trekking experience can take about 30 to 7 hours depending on the movements of the gorilla family in Buhoma sector.

Gorilla trekking experience

The gorilla trekking experience starts early in the morning with a briefing and then after go look out for them. The moment you locate them one hour is allowed to you to experience their amazing life style, how they play, feed, hunt and nest and video capturing as well as enjoying your packed lunch.

While trekking mountain gorillas, you will also get a chance to see the black and white colobus monkeys, unique Lhotse monkeys and baboons as they entertain you swinging over the tree branches and making interesting calls.

Nature walk experience

You will definitely, enjoy a great chance to watch a bird’s eye view of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will also catch sights of its sky blue lakes like Lake George and lake Edward. Along the nature walk, you will be able to sight see the active craters a top mountain Nyiragongo light up the sky with its yellow orange glow.

Bird watching

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to over 350 bird species and offers the best montane forest bird watching in Africa. Birding from the lodge takes you along Buhoma waterfall trail and Mubwindi swamp trail where you will be able to come across beautiful warblers and forest greenbul, purple –breasted sunbird, Regal sunbird, Grauer’s broadbill, Black-faced rufous warbler, Yellow –streaked greenbul, Mountain masked apalis, Cinnamon –chested bee-eater, Shelley’s crimson wing among other.

While at the lodge you will wake up to the sweet melodies of the different colorful bird species which can be seen throughout the day in the airy garden giving life to the lodge grounds. Best birding time with remarkable birding experiences runs from March to September and the migratory species can be encountered from November to April.

Muzabajirro Loop experience

While at visit to Trackers safari lodge, you can go for hiking through this amazing route which is a 6kilomters where lots of primates can be encountered into sky hugging trees, bamboo, and roaring rivers with green mountains in a distances and bird flying around. This activity is recommended for primate lovers.

Community Walks

This is amazing experience that gives you an opportunity to engage in different activities such as dispensing traditional medicine, brewing local beer, farming and weaving.

Batwa pygmy experience

It’s a great experience to go visit Batwa pygmies who lived in the forest with mountain gorillas thousands years ago. The Batwa are known as the fruit gatherers and hunters. Visiting these unique people, will give you great insight into the traditional forest lives of this hunter gatherer culture. You will also be able to meet a traditional healer who uses plants and leaves as medicines to heal people. You will enjoy the energetic cultural dance performances and vocalists traditional songs.
