Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a famous home to endangered mountain gorillas, over 120 mammal species,348 bird species,220 butterflies and 27 frog species, geckos, and chameleons which inhabitant an area of about 331 square kilometers, protected by ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority. The park is located southwestern region of Uganda, approximately 9 to 10 hours and 1:30 hours takes to land from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip and was established in 1991 to protect the unique apes. More so, the park harbors half the remaining endangered mountain gorillas in the world and about 650 individuals of the total world population of around 1065 mountain gorillas. There are over 22 habituated gorilla families which are divided into four gorilla trekking sectors; Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija, and Buhoma where gorilla trekking is carried out.

Activities offered at Eco Marvel Gorilla Resort –Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

They include; Gorilla trekking, guided walks, visiting the local community –Batwa people, Bird watching, Community walks

Gorilla trekking; This is the most practiced activity at the lodge, which starts early in the morning after briefing. You will start at 8 am in accompany of the park ranger guide who led you to the forest trails in search of the gorillas the activity can take about 30 to 7 hours.  Once you allocate them, one hour is given to you to watch them as they play, feed, hunt, nest, and enjoy your packed lunch boxes as well as you take your memorable photography.

Birding; While at the lodge, you can go engage in birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on interesting trails with help of the guide some of the bird species to spot include; Handsome francolin, Olive-breasted greenbul, Grauer’s broadbill, Many-colored bush –shrike, Purple-breasted sunbird, Regal sunbird, African broadbill, black bee-eater, Black-faced rufous warbler among others.

Getting there; Eco Marvels Gorilla Resort lies a few meters from Hakihome trading center, Mpungu sub county near Bwindi Impenetrable National park Kitahurira Ranger outpost.

From Kampala, you can travel via Kabale –Ruhija-Mpungu-Buhoma road. Or from Kampala via Rukungiri-Kihihi –Butogota-Mpungu road to access the park. So we recommend during the rains to use a 4x4wheel vehicle.
